Your browser does not support JavaScript! Fun Alternatives to Boring Lorem Ipsum – Bright Nonprofit

If you’ve never used it, Lorem Ipsum is a great tool when mocking up pages or documents to make sure things are styled well when you can’t wait for content. Essentially, it’s a set of latin words derived from a classic work by Cicero (though there is some debate as to the source and meaning of the words) that gives some well-distributed filler text so you can see what a design might look like once content is actually loaded.

A standard go-to for Lorem Ipsum text is the website Lipsum, which allows you to quickly and easily generate a specific number of words, sentences, or paragraphs to copy and paste into your design. Nonprofits can use this tool when developing web or print resources that may not quite have the content prepped and ready, but need to be mocked up (though content-first is really the most effective way to design).

However, “standard” and “go-to” aren’t exactly the most fun or exciting, right? Well you’re in luck as the website Meet The Ipsums has a whole set of more fun versions of the classic filler text, and there’s something for everyone. Here are our top ten versions, along with examples:

Tina Belcher Ipsum

Tina Belcher (from the TV show Bob’s Burgers) is the voice of an awkward generation, and those who love her love her. If that’s you, check out this lorem ipsum generator filled with her quotes from the show:

Hi boys. I’m Tina. Hey Jimmy Jr. Did you see those two squirrels fighting in the courtyard? There is one place I like to go. The boys’ locker room. You can only see up to their ankles. I can’t tell where your back ends and your butt begins. If I drunk text you and you’re asleep, don’t text me in the morning…that ship has sailed. I’m no hero. I just put my bra on one boob at a time. Ok then, see you on our date! If we see any mermaids, I’m gonna ask them where their merginas are. She grabbed Jimmy Jr’s butt and changed the world.

Bluth Ipsum

Arrested Development was (and is) a pretty big deal. It was the first big example of the internet rallying around a show and forcing a network to pick it back up and continue the story, and it’s filled with amazing one-liners. This generator brings those one-liners to your next design:

I’m not interested in you that way. Tobias: What way? Michael: Pick one. It’s a jetpack, Michael. What could go wrong? Well, obviously, I’m not a big guy. I’m not a Carl Weathers, par example. I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. I’m not interested in you that way. Tobias: What way? Michael: Pick one. George Bush doesn’t care about black puppets. You were just a turd out there, you know? You couldn’t kick, and you couldn’t run, you know? You were just a turd. I just don’t want him to point out my cracker ass in front of Ann.

Corporate Ipsum

Corporate doublespeak is ridiculous and filled with words that basically don’t mean anything. That means it’s perfect filler text! You don’t have to worry about saying something incorrect with this generator, as lets be honest, 99% of it doesn’t make sense when used normally:

Collaboratively administrate empowered markets via plug-and-play networks. Dynamically procrastinate B2C users after installed base benefits. Dramatically visualize customer directed convergence without revolutionary ROI. Efficiently unleash cross-media information without cross-media value. Quickly maximize timely deliverables for real-time schemas. Dramatically maintain clicks-and-mortar solutions without functional solutions.

Hipster Ipsum

Like corporate doublespeak, sometimes what comes out of the hipster community seems to be nonsensical. Check out this generator for the healthiest, most trendy filler text for your project:

Sagan Ipsum

Carl Sagan, the late astronomer, was a huge influence for many. He introduced concepts of astronomy and physics to people who might otherwise have had a harder time understanding. Use the power of physics in your next project with this generator:

White dwarf kindling the energy hidden in matter. Radio telescope, Apollonius of Perga emerged into consciousness something incredible is waiting to be known laws of physics dream of the mind’s eye. Tesseract astonishment corpus callosum galaxies take root and flourish a still more glorious dawn awaits hearts of the stars. Riker Ipsum

Let’s be honest, Commander Riker was a fox. Put some sultry Starfleet commander realness into your next project with this generator:

Sorry, Data. The unexpected is our normal routine. The look in your eyes, I recognize it. You used to have it for me. Now we know what they mean by ‘advanced’ tactical training. Shields up! Rrrrred alert! What’s a knock-out like you doing in a computer-generated gin joint like this? A lot of things can change in twelve years, Admiral. My oath is between Captain Kargan and myself. Your only concern is with how you obey my orders. Or do you prefer the rank of prisoner to that of lieutenant? Our neural pathways have become accustomed to your sensory input patterns. The Federation’s gone; the Borg is everywhere! In all trust, there is the possibility for betrayal.

Metaphor Ipsum

This generator is a spring flower, offering new life to a world of dull project filler text:

A tennis is the japanese of a freezer. An unwished honey’s grey comes with it the thought that the bookless august is a distribution. However, the aroused shark reveals itself as an unshocked mist to those who look. The berry of a lawyer becomes a seaward grandmother. The zeitgeist contends that a cozy spy is a screen of the mind. Far from the truth, we can assume that any instance of a dinner can be construed as a gelded ceiling. What we don’t know for sure is whether or not a peen is an avenue from the right perspective. As far as we can estimate, authors often misinterpret the ptarmigan as a brawny ostrich, when in actuality it feels more like a revered hail. Though we assume the latter, the disadvantage is a store. Though we assume the latter, authors often misinterpret the input as a renowned picture, when in actuality it feels more like a sunbaked minute.

Minion Ipsum

Whether you love them or hate them, the minions from Despicable Me are everywhere, including a lorem ipsum generator apparently:

Doctor Who Ipsum

Let a time lord save your design, or at the very least tell you about wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff while waving a sonic screwdriver at it:

Reverse the polarity of… I don’t like it. Clara, I’m not your boyfriend. I never said it was your mistake. I’d call you a genius, except I’m in the room. You realise one of us is lying about our basic programming. And I think we both know which one that is. Our lives are different from anybody else’s. That’s the exciting thing. Nobody in the universe can do what we’re doing. Why is there never a big red button? I know who I am, I… AM… THE DOCTOR! Do try and keep out of my way in future and in past, there’s a good fellow. The time continuum should be big enough for the both of us.

Forcem Ipsum

Use the force-lorem-ipsum-generator, Luke…

A fighter that size couldn’t get this deep into space on its own. Well, he ain’t going to be around long enough to tell anyone about us. Look at him. He’s headed for that small moon. I think I can get him before he gets there…he’s almost in range. That’s no moon! It’s a space station. It’s too big to be a space station. I have a very bad feeling about this. Yeah, I think your right. Full reverse! Chewie, lock in the auxiliary power. Why are we still moving towards it? We’re caught in a tractor beam! It’s pulling us in! But there’s gotta be something you can do! There’s nothin’ I can do about it, kid. I’m in full power. I’m going to have to shut down. But they’re not going to get me without a fight! You can’t win. But there are alternatives to fighting.
